what is that?
Krampus is Sankt Nikolaus' sidekick/guardian. An old German Christmas tradition. He's a demon-like figure that goes with Sankt Nikolaus to children's houses and if they are bad he takes them away to the woods.
That's terrifying! And one way to make your children behave lol
My kids would be petrified!
Shouldn't children obey bcause u are their mom and dad. Seems like their is a disconnect in ur parenting if u have to use a demon to get ur child to listen. Thia is ridiculous .... and I have 2 soon to be 4 kids so I am not being unrealistic.
It's pretty scary but not that different from letting your kids believe they won't get gifts from Santa if they don't behave. Of course children should listen to their parents 100% of the time but that's not going to happen. Besides, it's a German thing. Lots of other cultures do things I consider weird but still find them interesting.
I don't think it's known in all of Germany. I think it's more of a southern Bavaria region and other Alpine countries. Either way, as interesting as it is, it terrifies me! I can't imagine what it would do to kids! Great picture
I have to say that I was a bit scared when I first saw these. They even had very noisy "bells" on their backs to scare me more. I took the photo quite far away because I was scared and some little children actually cried.
WOW! Have we walked into the bowels of Hell? Just an opinion.
When he takes the kids to the woods, what happens to them? Do they ever come back?
