I wonder how you do it?
Joanne I googled it and the original blogger used her Kitchenaid w/ the wire whip attachment and added a little Vit E and a few dropped of essential oil for scent (if desired) She also using a hand mixer would work too.
Dr. OZ says coconut oil is best for moisturizing, soaks in and doesn't trap dead skiln cells like lotions and lip balms do.
I need to try this.
I would love to try this.
For consumption, consider organic, cold-pressed coconut oil. Coconut oil with raw honey and raw cacao make a great tasting chocolate! LOVE coconut oil for many many reasons.
I use organic, cold pressed coconut oil in baking to replace oils and butters. Spread on toast or cornbread with a little cinnamon sprinkled on top is delicious.
I have allergies to scents etc. & straight coconut is oil is beautiful as a body lotion, helps with itchy's too. Use on popcorn, 1/3 butter to 2/3 coconut oil for a light buttery taste with very little trans fat, delish.
Thanks! I love DIY beauty and skincare tips!
This is great information. Thank you everyone.
I am so excited to try this! I too have found myself digging in the jar of hard coconut oil with my fingernails even though I absolutely hate getting anything under my nails! I have been using coconut oil on my face and body for a couple of years now, ever since my girlfriend Jen introduced me to it and I love it. It has visibly improved the look and texture of my skin.
Now you've got me excited Nicole. Can't wait to try it as well.
I want to give this a try! I think this would be a great idea for a baby shower favor, maybe package it in baby food bottles!
That's a clever idea Natasha. You could put your own label on it.
Great idea! I've recently started using coconut oil both internally and externally! Yesterday I warmed some to liquid and then carefully ladled it into small flat jars to keep in the bathroom. This is a wonderful idea! It IS a pain to have to scrape it out with your fingernail.
Looks so good, I don't know if I'd rather swim in it or dip a graham cracker in it.
Great idea Melodie. Thanks.
I just bought my first jar for a recipe shown on Dr Oz. Can't wait to try it as moisturizer. Love, love, love coconut.
2 things - my dermatologist actually told me to use coconut oil to clear up my adult acne, and it works great. Also, if you click on the picture itself, (Or any pinterest pinned picture) it will take you to the link with the original post
Whoever asked about oily skin and acne? I tend to have quite oily skin in my "T-zone" and my skin is quite sensitive as well. I have always had to be really careful about what products I use on my face. I've been using the coconut oil on my face for a couple weeks and my skin is as clear as can be. It is oily at first when you apply it, but it soaks in really quickly and doesn't leave shine or anything. It's good stuff!
dying to try!
Love to try this! I use unrefined coconut oil for popping popcorn and making frosting!
Thanks my friend Connie for getting me hooked on coconut oil!
Someone told me what every you put in your mouth you can put on your skin. She gave me a jar of coconut oil and i put it on my rough heels. Now if I could just remember to do it every day.
My grandson has a skin condition that is extremely hard to treat. Must try this on him, $45.00 skin lotion recommended by the doctors don`t help.
I've been using coconut oil for a few days now. It has almost completely cleared my folliculitis and roseca! I use it all over now and try to eat about 4 tsp a day to start healing from inside as well. My morning steel cut oats now have a more creamier yummier taste and texture! Love coconut oil!
Awesome will definitely try this
@JanaMaxwell Have to trythis for Alexa
Thank you to everyone here for all the conversation and info about this -- I pinned it because I wanted to try it (I love cooking with coconut oil and always put it on my hands while I'm doing it!), but this weekend I will do it for sure :)
You also can use coconut oil as a deoderant! It has antibacterial properties.
Oh, Marcy -- so good to know! I have a Tom's of Maine that I use, but would love to try coconut oil :)
Here is the recipe: http://www.survivingthestor...
One thing I learned is that you have to let the deoderant air dry for a couple of minutes after applying because it could show on your clothes if you get dressed immediately after :)
Thanks so much, Marcy!
Thanks for the recipe.. I have to try this..
Jana, I also use 3-4 tbsp of coconut oil in my steel cut oats every morning. I add a tablespoon each of chia seeds, hemp hearts, and ground flax seed. Top it with a little maple syrup. It's delicious!
Does anyone know where I can get a recipe for 'epson' salt (eucyluptus) for example? Bath Salts..I've been buying Dr Teals but I know you can make it yourself w/oils and epson salts...interested in this coconut oil body butter. Wonder can you use other oils to make body butter?
Wonderful stuff...it really is! You can purchase 54 oz. extra virgin cocnut oil for a little more than $20 at Vitacost.com...it's also cold pressed and organic.
I am excited to find this, heard is was good!!
Definately buying the coconut oil
So much great info on this site...wow!
