Robe a la Polonaise, Silk 1760's; Dress 1775-80. Bright yellow ribbed silk with 3 graduated trees growing from a rocky hillock, large roses on extended stems, one group in pink the other magenta, an old knarled tree entwined with green flowerheads with roses at the base, all in shades of deep pink, magenta, mid & dark green, brown & yellow, with silver coloured silks in the background, the back bodice boned from 4 in or 10 cm down & pointed into the skirt, the bodice lined with linen.

Girl's dress bodice of white Spitalfields silk damask brocade, with a pattern of zig zag floral stems and detached sprays of roses on a diapered background of lozenges with rosettes at their corners. Documentation For this Caraco (yak) is a chintz (cotton printed with floral and leaf motif) with a brown background and a pattern of pink, red and blue flowers. Same complexion blue is used for the finishing of the chestpiece. A yak is a typical Dutch chintz dress form.

Mules, c.1730, France. 'Pearl-embroidered' upper with coloured floral motif on off-white background, cream tawed lining and insole; brown, vegetally tanned leather welt, sole, wooden heel covering and toecap. Especially notable for sablé or 'pearl-embroidered' ornamentation, a technique resembling that of needlepoint lace: tiny glass beads are mounted on horizontal threads and surrounded with a network of blanket stitching. Popular in the 1730s on furniture but extremely rare on shoes.
