A calm jar. I need one of these. You fill the jar with colored water and glitter. When you are upset you shake the jar and have to watch it until the glitter completely settles. The time it takes is enough time for you to settle your emotions.

    I might try this technique. I wonder if they will force themselves to do bad so they can sit in time out and watch this pretty bottle. I can see that happening with Eva. lol

Time-out bottles. Fill a bottle with 3/4 water, one bottle of glitter glue, & ultra fine glitter. Then send this bottle with your child to timeout and they can watch it settle to calm them. Once the glitter is settled their time is up! wow this is such a good idea! if they mess with the bottle their time out time is longer... interesting

Time Out Jar. It is really easy to make. The goal is that when they are feeling out of control, they shake the jar, then sit and watch the glitter settle in the water. When the glitter settles, they can get up. This one is a really great technique to use in lieu of timeout.

Calming Jar :: Time Out idea. Fill w/ hot water, add 1 tbs glitter glue, 3 tsp fine glitter, & a drop of blue food coloring. Have the child shake the jar & watch the glitter fall. When all the glitter has settled (and when the child has calmed down), then their time-out is over. It's quite soothing actually
