Buying a jump rope was one of the smartest (and cheapest) pieces of equipment I could buy. Once I mastered the technique (lemme just say ouch!), It was no time before I was working up a sweat. Jump ropes are great for HIIT and they travel well (no more excuses while on vacation!)
