And here’s their basement rec room (it definitely comes in handy when the kids have friends over). Since Emily and Todd love their white, they opted to paint the concrete floors with a glossy (and awesomely wipeable) floor paint. Then they layered in a giant leather sectional, which is also easy to wipe down (it has held up awesomely through juice stains and finger paint over the years).

How to transform your basement into a more useful space.
Basement entrance... love the brick wall. What a great way to hide those hand prints and dog smudges! However, I fear the already tight squeeze for appliances down our old house stairs means we can't afford to narrow the opening further! But this idea is worth filing away for other potential applications . . .

this isn't my *favorite* 'look' ... but this living room is SO similar to ours in the size, couch color/style, and fireplace & layout... I *had* to pin it, because they make it 'work'. The only difference is that for some reason, our fireplace is off-center, to the left, so it's visually tucked behind the couch. annoying, and the asymetry bugs me so much, I don't know what to do with it!!
