The Barn Owl, tyto alba, has long been regarded as the Ghost Owl, a bringer of death... but then, death is just a more fearsome word for "change." Here, the Owl Mother welcomes the winter snowfall with open arms. She knows the winter brings the spring, the spring brings the summer, and so on. All things move in cycles. She is here to remind us not to fear the cold and the dark, for they are necessary times of regeneration. No life without sleep. Rest, and be renewed. Stephanie Lostimolo
