Ulyana Lopatkina. Turnout! She is one of the most (if not the most) popular and famous ballerina's in Russia. She took 2 yrs off of ballet to start a family and have a baby. After that she wanted to dance again. After a few months back critics and choreographers said she returned as a better dancer. So incredibly inspiring to have that much strength, courage, diligence, and passion.
Ballet is hard! You do tons of combinations that the teacher designs to kill you and she yells at you the whole time about what your doing wrong and you want more then anything to please her and her to say good job so you try and try and try but your body just won't do it and thats just bar. At the end your feet kill your muscles ache. I wouldnt trade a second of it for anything
Ballet technique is arbitrary and very difficult. It never becomes easy--it becomes possible. The effort involved in making a dancer's body is so long and relentless, in many instances painful, the effort to maintain the technique so grueling that unless a certain satisfaction is derived from the disciplining and the punishing, the pace could not be maintained. -- Agnes de Mille
