homemade chicken waterer- so stinking simple and smart! (Wonder if you could do the same thing with a large "Gatorade" cooler and give your hens cool water in the summer.)

I might sound like a broken record to those that know me, but I can't say it enough: Using wood ashes for your chickens saves you money. We store them (fireplace ash only, not BBQ coals, etc) and when needed, mix 2 1/2 parts ash to 1 part sand for the chickens to do their dust bathing. And guess what? It keeps mites away. It's been over a year since the last time I bought the bottled mite spray. That and painting the coop with hydrated lime has worked great so far!

Put an old canoe on bricks, install a drain faucet, then fill up with water. The ducks love racing back and forth.

Buff orpington hen, large fowl. Such a pretty girl. I love this breed, they get so big and fluffy, we had one named Ella, she was huge

French Black Copper Marans~ These birds lay the darkest brown eggs of any variety of chicken. French Black Copper Marans were developed in France and are famous for their chocolate brown eggs.

Buff Laced Polish These very rare birds are a rich golden buff, each feather neatly laced with creamy white, and with slate blue shanks and toes. The flowing crests and sprightly carriage make them one of the most prized varieties anyone interested in beauty and unusual poultry can own.
