Native Wisdom Quotes
BOUND TOGETHER "Humankind has not woven the web of life.We are but one thread within it.Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect."~Chief Seattle
The Circle has healing power. In the Circle, we are all equal. When in the Circle, no one is in front of you. No one is behind you. No one is above you. No one is below you. The Sacred Circle is designed to create unity. The Hoop of Life is also a circle. On this hoop there is a place for every species, every race, every tree and every plant. It is this completeness of Life that must be respected in order to bring about health on this planetDave Chief, Oglala Lakota www.lovehealsus.net
We know that the white man does not understand our ways. One portion of land is the same to him as the next, for he is a stranger who comes in the night and takes from the land whatever he needs. The earth is not his brother, but his enemy, and when he has conquered it, he moves on. He leaves his fathers' graves behind, and he does not care. He kidnaps the earth from his children. He does not care. His fathers' graves and his children's birthright are forgotten. He treats his mother, the earth,
You must teach your children that the ground beneath their feet is the ashes of our grandfathers. So that they will respect the land, tell your children that the earth is rich with the lives of our kin. Teach your children that we have taught our children that the earth is our mother. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of earth. If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves. - Chief Seattle www.lovehealsus.net
Great Mystery, teach me how to trust my heart, my mind, my intuition, my inner knowing, the senses of my body, the blessings of my spirit. Teach me to trust these things so that I may enter my Sacred Space and love beyond my fear, and thus Walk Balance with the passing of each glorious Sun -- Lakota prayer

Here for your consideration is an old picture of Crows Heart, an Indian Brave. It was created in 1908 by Edward S. Curtis. The photograph presents the Indian in a half-length portrait, facing left. He is wearing a buckskin shirt, and has two eagle feathers in his hair. He has necklaces around his neck, One of the Neclaces is made of Bear Claws.
Sacred Feathers...Feathers in hair for Native Americans had a spiritual meaning. They were worn by Native American Chiefs to symbolize their communication with the Spirit, and to show off their divine wisdom. Feathers also represented the power of the thunder gods, along with the power of air and wind. Sometime feathers were representative of courage during a battle or a successful hunt.
