Lilly "The Cat" Christine: as scanned from the December 1956 issue of Glamour Parade magazine. Lilly Christine was born Martha Theresa Pompender in Dunkirk, NY 17 December 1923. Little is know about Lilly’s early life, but in the late 1940s she began dancing and quickly became the featured dancer at Prima’s 500 Club in New Orleans. The ‘Cat’ moniker stemmed from her feline grace and one of her routines was entitled “The Cat Dance". Lilly left New Orleans for Broadway in the mid 1950s.
