DIY Hydroponic Herb Garden. Basically, the plants sit in plastic baskets filled with rockwool (an inert, lightweight material that holds onto moisture). Those are suspended just barely into a solution of water & a whole pile of nutrients. At the bottom of the nutrient broth are airstones (from aquariums) that pump oxygen into the nutrient bath & the roots of the plants. This gives the plant roots all that they need: nutrients, water and oxygen. #hydroponics #gardening

DIY - Milk Jug drip irrigation. A great way to add extra water to your plants. Make a few holes with a nail on the bottom of the milk jug and fill with water. Also a great way to apply liquid fertilizer!

A free standing gutter garden that can be placed most anywhere. Lettuce, radishes, spinach, green onions, strawberries. What else?

Plants have best friends just like people do. Marigolds help tomatoes and roses grow better. Nasturtiums keep bugs away from squash and broccoli. Petunias protect beans from beetles and oregano chases them away from cucumbers. Geraniums keep Japanese beetles away from roses and corn. Chives make carrots sweeter, and basil makes tomatoes even tastier. cool!! - Click image to find more Gardening Pinterest pins
