Van Gogh, Vincent (1853-1890) - 1889-1890 Poppies in the Field

This Banksy piece is fascinating in regards to its simplicity and message. The generational division seen between the mother and her youth makes use of the familiar image of a mother preparing her child for his day, as if she is licking her finger to remove a smudge on his face, and providing his packed lunch. The two people appear to come from polar worlds, and yet the picture implies that one begot the other, and thus the son's rebellious attitude.
