Bernard Buffet

Bernard Buffet (1928–1999) was a French painter of Expressionism and a member of the anti-abstract art group "L'homme Témoin" (the Witness-Man). Although he was expelled from the Lycee Carnot in Paris in 1939 for his irreverent attitude toward academia, his artistic talent gained him admittance to the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (National School of the Fine Arts) in 1943 at the age of 15.
