* For us Southern girls who grew up being told to NEVER EVER wash your cast irons with soap...scrub your cast iron with coarse salt and a soft sponge. The salt is a natural abrasive and will absorb oil and lift away bits of food while preserving the pan's seasoning. Rinse away salt and wipe dry. FINALLY!!!!

One of those gross things you really NEED to know as a parent- How to Clean Up Vomit...1. clean up excess off the affected area. 2. make a paste of BAKING SODA and Water; 3. Take a spatula or spoon and generously spread it onto the affected area. It is almost like frosting a cake, except way less appetizing; 3. Let it dry overnight or until it becomes a powdery consistency again; 4. Vacuum it up!; 5. Repeat if necessary. I wish I'd learned this a long, long time ago!

REFRESHING TOWELS - Grandma's tip - I use this trick all the time since I noticed my towels smelling funky. IT WORKS! - Over time, towels build up detergent and fabric softener, leaving them unable to absorb as much water and smelly. Recharge them by washing them once with hot water and 1cup vinegar, then a 2nd time with hot water and half cup baking soda. This strips the residue and leaves them fresh and able to absorb more water again. Works like a charm!*
