Give your garden a boost - mix one Tablespoon regular Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulfate) and one Tablespoon regular Houseplant Fertilizer in one gallon of water, and water your green garden plants as usual. I was skeptical at first, but wow, my ferns went crazy for this stuff! And, since my garden has been full of snails and slugs, it has helped to keep those guys away as well. Cheap, too - under a dollar at Walmart or the big discount stores. Once every two weeks is plenty.

Homemade Weed Killer 1 gallon of white vinegar, 1/2 cup salt, Liquid dish soap (any brand), Empty spray bottle. Put salt in the empty spray bottle and fill it the rest of the way up with white vinegar. Add a squirt of liquid dish soap. This solution works best if you use it on a hot day. Spray it on the weeds in the morning, and as it heats up it will do its work.

Growing peppers. Peppers hate nitrogen/commercial fertilizer. Wait until plants flower before fertilizing. Then spray leaves with 1 tsp of Epsom salt to 1qt of water (peppers need Magnesium to set fruit). Peppers also enjoy small amounts of potassium (wood ashes).
