Model of a Table. China. ca. 1500-1700. This model of a table was part of a group of miniature furniture buried with a wealthy Chinese person. The idea was to enable the deceased to continue to enjoy all the comfort he was used to during his lifetime. Though made as funerary objects, the models are usually very accurately crafted and provide us with valuable information on Chinese furniture in the Ming dynasty.
