The Great Poplar is still a very naturalistic landscape of Klimt accomplished near the Seehofkapelle in Litzlberg on Lake Attersee. The biomorphic form of the monumental poplar encounters Klimt's passion to use natural shapes for ornamentation. From this time on, Klimt develops---not only in landscapes, a much more pronounced attitude towards the ornament.
