The Bean Sprout Notes: A Very Hungry Caterpillar 2nd Birthday Party

MY PIN! Last year, I did this activity with the kids using different sized balloons to complete the shape of the caterpillar. It was a super fun art project and I think the kids had a lot of fun making it. It was also super easy for them to do on their own. Good for preschool to kindergarten.

Eric Carle stories were a staple in my house as a child. I can remember my parents reading them over and over again. When I became pregnant, a friend gave me a wonderful gift basket with his books in Spanish for me to read them to my son. I was so excited!! I have been reading them to him for over 4 years now and he loves them! I also love reading his books to my kindergarten students and now that I have some in Spanish, I am able to share them with my ell students and their families.

Love Eric Carle stories! My son received "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" DVD from his Grandma and Grandpa for Christmas one year. He watched it over and over. It never got old for him or for me!

I started my teaching career in first grade back in 1975, As soon as I knew I had the job, I went to the bookstore. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is the very first hardback I purchased for my classroom. Since that day, I have read it every single year while I taught first grade and then Kindergarten. By the time I started teaching kindergarten in 1981 I started collecting all his books for my classroom and read every single one of them. My niece was the first in our family to go into education and her gift from her was, of course, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I am now retired but every time I see a new activity to go with this book, I so want to go back. But I get my teaching-fix through doing activities with the grand-children.
