Sculpture

OMG.... I love sculpture. I have been sculpting for over 23 years now. I love sculpting the face and this has been my concentration. Here you will find some of my favorite sculptures, I especially love the Baroque period ... Not much for modern sculpture ....the marble block with a whole in the center ??? ....I just want to add a face in the center of it.

Canova's masterpiece

Paris, Musee d'Orsay. Next time I go to Paris I want to go here. I am determined that there will be a next time!

A Cherub Beautifully lit by a Fabulous Sunbeam. Makes it Look Suitable Celestial. St Peter's Basilica, the Vatican.

One of the best preserved figures in the crypt gallery (Gruftenweg) at the main cemetery in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. This figure is in a private niche behind locked iron gates, which perhaps explains why it is undamaged -

Pieta, Michelangelo. So lovely. On May 21, 1972, a mentally disturbed man walked into the chapel and attacked the sculpture with a geologist's hammer while shouting "I am Jesus Christ." Onlookers took many of the pieces of marble that flew off. Later, some pieces were returned, but many were not, including Mary's nose, which had to be reconstructed from a block cut out of her back.

No one sculpted hands like Rodin. He spent years studying the anatomy of hands, and did a number of small pieces of them.

Grey Raku - Marika Baumler "Grijze Raku" h 30 cm. This gorgeous sculpture is my favorite pin on my board: ART + SCULPTURE + INSTALLATION

"Cupido and Psyche"...A Masterpiece of Neoclassical Sculpture from The Louvre by Antonio Canova.

Tree Medicine "Hug trees without shame! Through their root system, trees hold a powerful grounding connection that can assist your stability. As the Life Force surges through the tree and empowers your body with the gift of love and strength, it won’t matter what anyone thinks if they see you. Let the tree know how much you appreciate its gifts. This powerful communication provides you with a deep earth connection that will give you strength in your daily life..."

This is an interesting exploration of the human form. The veiling of the statues adds an element of mystery and curiosity. We are only able to see what is outside the body, and the face of the subject in question remains hidden. It is a portrait of something and nothing.
