I have raised 8 children.. now have 17 grand children and 2 great grand children...used this idea before there were crock pots but we has a huge freezer.ground turkey, groundchicken, pork all work well,,,,at Christmas we have two crockpots full of stuffing,,took me awhile to get use to doing it in a crock pot , but we like it and frees up space in the oven

How do you cook it in a crock pot? Do you have to add anything to it? I just bought my first crock pot and have not used it yet.

Never thought of that! Great idea

I do this with frying it up rather than in the crock pot. Easier to drain off the fat. Also most of my recipes call for onion so I fry that up with the beef. That is a really big time saver to cut up the onion all at once.

I've done this for years. I get the logs of ground beef and cut them into sections to stand in the crockpot. Cook the meat, drain the grease and THEN mash it into small bits. Beats standing over a stover. I'll throw in onions also.
