Every journal or notebook I've ever kept (including my current iPad versions) has font doodles. The way I see it, hand-lettering and drawn fonts are really just a study of line and space. Doodling is also a proven active-listening technique, and I prefer dressing up my words than scrawling dragons and smileys.
