Do everything without whining, complaining or arguing. Every one has their own jar. Start off the week with a set amount of quarters in each jar. If they are caught whining or complaining, they lose a quarter. At the end of the week, they get the money that remains.

Website says: The chores you use for Chore of the Week can be the same set used for Work for Hire. It gives you more opportunities to get those numerous tasks accomplished by your kids. Work for Hire is optional, but since my kids don't receive an allowance and I don't buy them toys, they are always clamoring to make a little money. I'm encouraging work ethic while getting my home clean.
Like this better than kids getting paid for regular chores. And not forcing them to do it, whichever kid wants the money will do it. Going to make this!
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR! You do not get paid for chores because it's an expected part of being a family. Allowance is teaching children how to manage money. I have started this with the kids, the chore list doesn't get money but the commission chart does! There are different chores on each. AND she incorporates tithing and savings! Brilliant!
This is exactly how my parents explained Santa - and it made perfect sense as a kid. There was no let down or crying, just excitement that now that I knew, I got to help participate in the magic of Christmas for my little brothers and other families! I plan on doing the exact same for my boys when they get older.
