Old is the New New

We are collecting photos (and stories) of your favorite second-hand treasures. It's all part of my experiment to buy nothing new for one year (and the blog series I'm writing about it.) Send your photos and we'll pin them here! http://daily.sightline.org/blog_series/whats-new-is-old/

This lovely detail of a thrift store party dress is featured in a new post in my blog series on Buying Nothing New for One Year.

A Russel Wright sherry pitcher from the early 30s. Thrifted by Scott Lindberg.

Brooke's plaid wool scarves, thrifted. As seen on her blog: Secondhand Goods.

Joan's yard sale treasures.

My aunt's collection of thrift store candlesticks. When they're all blazing at her dining room table, the effect is dazzling--and very chic! (Thanks, Janet!)

Leslie says: "Wow, do I have some great photos for you! (I'm almost reluctant to share them because I don't want anyone else to know that thrift stores are treasure troves.) I'm just attaching one picture of [baby's] shoes. They're a Goodwill find; I think they were $2.99."

Piper's gorgeous accordion! It's from a thrift store and she skipped all the way home, I guarantee it!

This brunch set for $25 made my day! -Melanie

"Here are two photos for your used stuff blog if they suit your needs...One is a loveseat I found on the sidewalk the other day. It was missing a leg so I went to the Rebuilding Center and bought a railing spindle, went to the Tool Library and borrowed tools and created a leg. Looks and works great! In the background of the photo are some old chimney inserts I found and now use as a pedestal. The metal barrel I found on a sidewalk and the magnolia blossoms are from a street tree pruning."
