LCDR Sara Anderson, officer in the Commissioned Corps of the US Public Health Service and UMass Amherst Online MPH in Nutrition program grad, who currently serves as a Regulatory Officer at the Food and Drug Administration, received a group award from the recent Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, M.D., M.B.A., in recognition of specific plans for working strategies and implementation of the National Prevention Strategy(NPS). www.surgeongenera...
Christine Carroll, MPH, RD; Nicole Geurin, MPH, RD; Dawn Crayco, MPH; Dan Jaris, RD; Nancy Munoz, DCN, MHA, RD; Laura Sprauer, MPH, RD, IBCLC, LCCE; David Strefling, MPH, RD; Tracy Gregg, RD, LD, CLC were highlighted as "Entrepreneurs in Action" in the 6th Edition of Community Nutrition in Action an Entrepreneurial Approach. One of our online MPH in Nutrition instructors, Dr. Marie Boyle, is co-author of the textbook.
Susan Harms, RD, CDE completed her UMass Online MPH in Nutrition practicum while working with the American Diabetes Association in Southern Colorado.
Joan C Temmerman, MD, MS, FAAFP, CNS, a student in the Online MPH in Nutrition Program, wrote a paper about vitamin D and cardiovascular disease as part of her Nutritional Assessment course. Dr. Julien Sanon, recent graduate of the online MPH in Nutrition program, traveled to Haiti this past fall with the LeSage Foundation. Dr. Sanon said, “I was able to use the knowledge that I obtained from my UMass public health nutrition training to have an impact on a very poor underserved community of my [birth] country."
Three Online MPH in Nutrition students (September 2013 and February 2013 graduates) attended the Graduate Commencement on Friday, May 10, 2013. It was such a joy to meet each of them face-to-face!
Audrey Hess, RD, was the lead author for a poster presentation at the Pennsylvania Nutrition Education Network's annual meeting. Her poster, "Community Collaboration for Fresh Food Access: Healthy Options" presented the outcomes of her online MPH in Nutrition practicum.
Amanda Sylvie, MPH, RD, LD (graduate of the online MPH in Nutrition) and Nancy L. Cohen, PhD, RD, LDN (UMass Nutrition Department Chair) published "Identification of Environmental Supports for Healthy Eating in Older Adults."
