NYC. Times Square, August 14, 1945 (V-J Day) "Sailor kissing a nurse celebrating the surrender" by Alfred Eisenstaedt. / The photographer took 4 shots in 10 seconds. This is the only one in which you can see a girl just behind the sailor's arm. She is Rita, his real girlfriend, watching the scene. This has been a conclusive proof to find out the real sailor among several "candidates".
