Great site for fun summer activities for kids. Reminds me of summers spent at my aunts house! She would MAKE huge wands with rope and wed make bubbles bigger then our(kid)selves. They were fantastic! And years later, I find that Dawn Dish Liquid keeps the bugs away! Truth right there! Keeps kids busy so they dont bug us! =)

Homemade pet jelly fish. that's about the neatest thing EVER. I did this with my 3rd, 4th and 5th grade class. Told them to bring in a bottle and a bag. Some of the kids brought it in and the rest of the kids thought it was dumb. After we did this project, the kids who thought it was dumb, didn't think so anymore. Kids who made them, named them and love them at home now.

Another "calming jar" idea: your kids shake the bottle and then have to watch it till the glitter settles to the bottom. This one has the advantage of being in non-breakable plastic bottles. Also, you can superglue the lids on, so the kids don't open the bottles and drink the glitter glue while they're "calming down."
Time out bottles! Water, glue and glitter..mix and add until it takes 5 minutes to settle. Watching it settle relaxes them, and you don't have to set a timer! Brilliant!!
