"After the last patient was discharged, Ms. Schuleit and dozens of volunteers began their work, leaving furniture, stray office equipment and forgotten papers untouched and carpeting the hallways and rooms with some 28,000 live flowers. When the thousands of flowers were in place, the center was opened to the public for the last time. Rooms were now overflowing with orange tulips, heather or yellow begonias. White chrysanthemums filled one hall..."
