Kids Activities - Summer ideas for a toddler & preschooler (before mom loses her mind!)
School's Out For the Summer! What a fun treat to have waiting for the kids when they get home from school, or the 1st day after.
Watermelon eating contest!
Good one. The big brother can do the painting and the little brother can do the sorting. Or both. Toddler Activity - Take an egg carton and paint the inside of each section a different color. Ask toddler to find small objects that match each color. Ideas: nature, pompoms, crayons, small blocks, balls... Hide colorful objects if you're not in a place where child can find & match objects. craft, eggs, nature, color, scavenger hunts, egg cartons, toddler, walk, kid

Sponge Ball Water Fight: Great for a game of tag on a scorching hot day, squishy sponge balls are summer's alternative to snowballs. Made from kitchen sponges that are cut up and tied together, they last longer than water balloons and are softer and splashier than regular balls. Best of all, after tossing them around, the kids will be as clean as the kitchen dishes spong ball, hot summer days, craft, water play, water fun, water balloons, kitchen dishes, summer fun, kid
Crayon Melts - cover paper plate with foil. Place cookie cutters on plate. Fill with broken crayon pieces. Set in sunny spot to melt. Will definitely try this on a 110 degree day this summer in Dallas! hot summer days, sunny days, melted crayons, card, crayon melt, learning activities, melting crayons, summer heat, paper plates
Ice Cream Taste Test - LOVE this idea!
ALPHABET Scavenger Hunt ~ I've done this but used items from a 'treasure box' (a shoe box filled with random small treasures from home), & one by one they chose something, told me what sound it started with & found that letter to place it by. Worked a treat! school, alphabet hunt, scavenger hunts, game, backyard, summer fun, rainy day activities, kid, letter sounds
Backyard Alphabet Hunt - could do on driveway using chalk alphabet. Or could do this on a rainy day and change it to an indoor alphabet hunt.
