On October 11, 1871, the Great Chicago Fire is finally extinguished after three days. The fire was one of the largest U.S. disasters of the 19th century, but the rebuilding spurred Chicago into one of the most populous and economically important American cities. The fire started around 137 DeKoven Street (but the cow is probably urban legend).

A perfect day for a picnic.
