The coffin of the Estate-Overseer Khnumhotep is the earliest coffin in our display. Almost 4,000 years old, the coffin dates from c.1938-1755 BC.

(National Geographic News) Chest of Tutankhamun. In the shape of a cartouche, this gilded wood chest from King Tutankhamun's tomb is inlaid with ivory, ebony, and various coloured pastes. A cartouche is an oval figure enclosing a sovereign's name.
