"When was the last time you heard someone , in public or private, talk about violence against women in a way that went beyond the standard victim fixation and put a sustained spotlight on men - either as perpetrators or bystanders?" - Jackson Katz
why is this on a instant sanitizer?
Wow, so many of you clearly don't get it.
@Tanja Rigby The note is what is being done about it - forcing others to think about and hopefully talk about it.
@Kevin108 You're too busy being offended to even consider what the note is really suggesting. The men that "protect" already have a presence and it's not even about them. Instead of teaching women how not to piss off their man we should be focusing on teaching men not to abuse women (not that abuse doesn't happen the other way around too)
@Miciah Gutierrez It's in a (presumably) public space to prompt a discussion and bring awareness to a point of view that most don't consider.
@Jennifer W we just may agree to disagree. I think people talk about violence towards women all the time. I personally don't think anyone is afraid to talk about it. Our media is certainly not afraid to show it. What we do about it is another story. I do get it. I am a survivor of such abuse. Thank you for sharing your passion about how you feel.
I think the point is we often tell women to modify their behavior, so they don't become victims but we almost never tell men they need to modify their behavior and not commit these crimes against women...
