Henna for Hair
After many years of using chemical dyes and not been able to remember my natural color, I decided to give henna a try. I LOVE the results! I first started using henna (Rajasthani, Jamila), and after getting a nice even color, moved on to henna-indigo-amla, and then henna-indigo. I going back to my reddish brown natural hair color with probably more red highlights than before. My hair is shiny, stronger, healthier, thicker, longer, and much softer.
Rajasthani henna+ indigo, but you can find Jemani henna in any Indian store and it's the same. Mix with green tea (4 bags per cup), add two tbsp of honey and let it sit for 8-12 hrs. After it has released the dye, you may add a few jasmin oil drops. Mix the indigo separately and then mix with henna (one part henna, two parts indigo) Apply to clean hair. Cover your head in a plastic shower cap or saran wrap paper and let sit for 2 hours. Rinse, but don't use shampoo. The hair will darken (oxidaize) in a period of 3-5 days. You may use shampoo after three days.
