The hovering sculptures featured in this ongoing series of photographs are inspired by self-organizing, ‘emergent’ systems in nature such as termite mounds, swarming locusts, schooling fish and flocking birds. The images attempt to tap the mixture of fear and fascination that those phenomena tend to evoke, while creating an uneasy interplay between the natural and the manufactured and the real and the imaginary.
The number of women who are current or former victims of domestic violence is staggering: 1 in 4. With this amount of people directly affected, it is unlikely that anyone has not been impacted personally by domestic violence. The damage it wreaks in the community is extensive because it does not just affect whole families but entire neighborhoods and communities. By supporting SafeHaven its shelter activities, you can play a significant role in ending domestic violence in North Texas.
