Some of my friends take great pains in choosing a setting befitting the dignity of the occasion and dignity of their esteemed colleagues and themselves. I must say, it works very well most of the time. But when they confuse the framing and staging for substance and reality, sometimes the dignity evaporates and a sad comedy is all that is left.
