FREE: Valentine's Math Box Greater Than and Less Than schoolisahappyplace.blogspot.com
My sweeties started their math boxes yesterday for the month of February. I generally (but not exclusively) use these boxes to review and reinforce various math skills. I find my firsties need constant reminders that they do know how to do things, because sometimes they forget they know. My students work in pairs to complete the math box tasks. I spend a good amount of time training them to take turns and how to coach each other when needed. I'll try to post more specifics about how I use math boxes (math tubs, math stations, math centers . . . whatever you want to call them). But for the time being I'll share a box I am using this month. It is a number comparison sorting activity that uses the Whole Brain Teaching line of questioning YES or NO WAY. Which is basically like TRUE or FALSE. If you would like a FREE copy of this activity click on the picture below. The activity includes two sorting mats, sixteen number comparison cards, and a recording sheet that has a cut and glue option. You can use the recording sheets as a stand alone printable if you want. The clip art is from Scrappin Doodles. Enjoy!

Happy Sunday to Everyone! :) So...on Sunday, I put together a little birthday party for myself on Facebook. I was a little nervous about how many people would actually come visit, but...I was pleasantly surprised! :) It was a really great time! :) Some dear bloggy sisters helped me with my giveaway, and then I also was able to give away two quick freebies I made for the occasion. Rhymes of the Irish Link The first is one that I put together for rhyming called *Rhymes O' the Irish*. Students will read the long vowel words and match them to the correct header. The next one is called *Lucky Numbers*. It's a dice game that I made up to help my kids with greater than and less than. Lucky Numbers Link I hope your students enjoy these as much as mine did. Thanks for stopping by to see me! :) XOXO, Your partner in education, Tamara

Math gametens and ones
This week and next, is a huge time for celebrating reading. Anyone who teaches in the primary grades can tell you who is the most popular, but I will not. I had some fantastic games made last yearthey were my second ones to ever create since this huge venture. It has since been deactivated due to copyright issues and not being able to even say a name... or names... or character names. Since they were perfectly good games, I gave them a recent wacky make over. Check them out {LIT} and {MATH}. If you have already purchased these, I wouldn't run out and buy these. I did add a new game to the literacy pack, but since my old product was deactivated and deleted, I can't upload them to the old files.... I also gave my popular freebie of last year a makeover, so you can resume downloading! My kids are enjoying last year's version as I have not printed this out and laminated itbut it's the same thing, just without the banned clip art ;) Students will spin for tens and ones to make numbers. Click on the picture to download your freebie! Last, please make sure to check out my post about my Sentence Writing Boot Camp! The proceeds from this packet are being donated to a family who had a tragedy hit them back in September. Read about it here. Click on the picture for more info! (I am very thankful for those of you who have already purchased it! So far we are up to a little over $50 to donate. Every little bit countsand is helpful) XOXOXO
