Waverley Train Station #Edinburgh

The ceiling window of Edinburgh Waverly train station, where we were sadly about to say goodbye to dear old Scotland.

The North British (Balmoral) Hotel sits above the North Bridge and is attached to Waverley train station. The clock on its massive tower is kept permanently 5 minutes fast, to improve passengers' chances of catching their train!

The building of the first North Bridge opened up the fields to the north of Edinburgh for the building of the New Town. The North British (now Balmoral) Hotel is one of Princes Street's two large railway hotels.

Edinburgh’s streets are old, narrow and extremely crowded, especially near Waverley Railway Station where this photo was taken.  This can make road-crossing treacherous for drivers and pedestrians alike.  But what exactly is this sign getting at?  Is it warning pedestrians to be vigilant, or telling drivers to aim for the tourist?
