Marc Chagall ( 1887 - 1985), was a Russian-French artist associated with several major artistic styles and one of the most successful artists of the 20th century. He was an early modernist, and created works in virtually every artistic medium, including painting, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramic, tapestries and fine art prints. Pablo Picasso remarked in the 1950s, "Chagall will be the only painter left who understands what colour really is."

The Rosaire chapel, conceived by Henri Matisse remains a sacred art monument, unique in the world. The inauguration and consecration of Notre Dame of Rosaire, took place in 1951. For Henry Matisse, “this work required me 4 years of an exclusive and entiring effort and it is the fruit of my whole working life. style court: Matisse studio work for tree-of-life stained glass window for the Chapelle du Rosaire.

This is Matisse's Stained glass windows. Some of my most favorite of his works. Matisse worked on these windows from around 1948 to 1952. His intention here was to convey the spirit. The windows represent the "tree of life". The priest clothed in white, floor length cassocks hold his fingers to his lips. The late afternoon light shines thru the windows and cast a yellow , aquamarine blue, and bottle green rays to the floor. This lovely piece is located in Vene, France.
