Uganda’s Growth Since President Clinton’s Visit: A friend of us sent us a photo of President Bill Clinton in 1998 holding a baby that a Ugandan mother had named after him, along with a more recent photo of the two of them reuniting. The first photo was taken when the President and First Lady Hillary Clinton were visiting FINCA Uganda, which got us to thinking about how our program has grown between their visit and now. Our Friday story of a brave and determined mother comes from #Kyrgyzstan. In just a few short years, Tamara was abandoned by her husband, left jobless, and alone to support her young daughter. Our Thursday inspiring story of a woman micro-entrepreneur is from El Salvador. Five years ago Angela's husband abandoned her and she was left to support her four children on her own. Four years ago she took out her first FINCA loan and since then her business has only grown and her kids are able to attend school. Save.The campaign addresses the huge annual wastage and losses in food, which, if conserved, would release a large quantity of food as well as reduce the overall carbon footprint. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, every year 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted. At the same time, 1 in every 7 people in the world go to bed hungry.
