So this isn't a product, but it is the Whole Grain Council website that teaches about whole grains. In my quest to completely change the way I eat, with the help of Advocare, I needed to understand "whole grain" vs "multi-grain" and so on. Here is a quick reference guide.
Still questioning, what is a whole grain? Let the Whole Grains Council show you the basics: starting with the three parts that make up a whole grain.

We need your help! Don’t let Congress take away healthy school meals for kids.
There is tremendous progress underway toward improving schools' foods. Yet, some food companies, school food service organizations, and Members of Congress are trying to roll back these improvements, including those around fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and sodium reduction. We need your help to stop them. Congress must reauthorize child nutrition programs by the end of the month, and that is where they plan to roll back school nutrition.

Bring Food Education Back #food #infographic
Did you know this Saturday, May 19th is Food Revolution Day? Word. Gotta love Jamie Oliver, right? I'm on the look-out for an event to pop up in my area (maybe a farmer's market rally or something?), but in the meantime my plan for the fam is for us to eat all from-scratch food that day, even our cheese and crackers. Are you doing anything special to mark the occasion? I was going to add a few of my thoughts on real food here, but I've probably done enough of that already. Plus, I have the hunch that anything I say to you about eating real food will be preaching to the choir, especially since I have gotten as many food tips from this blog as I have given. So instead, Choir, I'll invite you to check out the sweet infographic below regarding the need to make food education compulsory. I wholeheartedly agree! And if have a blog and you're feeling social, you can grab the embed code here and share it with your readers. Oh yeah, and if you like posts like this one, don't forget to friend me on Facebook (using the button above), where you can also find this post and pass it along that way. Looking forward to some friendly FB chats! Editor's note: This post is part of Real Food Wednesday and Frugal Days, Sustainable Ways.

It's back-to-school time for children, adolescents, and young adults in many countries all over the world. Once these students have returned to their classrooms, however, it’s unlikely that they’ll be learning about food and nutrition. According to Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, in the United States alone, elementary school students only receive an average of 3.4 hours of food education per year.

The cafeteria is typically the loudest room in an elementary school. The lunch period offers students a chance to unwind, talk with their friends and share the events of the day. Picky Eater Pleasers My kids are fussy eaters, but one thing they’ll always eat is organic boxed macaroni and cheese. Whenever I make it for them, I bump up the nutrition by nixing the milk and butter and substituting a jar of organic sweet-potato baby food and 4 T plain Greek yogurt. Mixed with the cheese, it creates a creamy sauce my kids love. They won’t eat in any other way! I love that it gives them a boost of protein, vitamin C and vitamin A. -Melissa W.
