Here’s one way to broaden your leafing horizons: a lit-up-and-leafed paper-maché letter! We used a craft knife to remove the letter’s front and carve holes for bulb caps, and we covered the inside with variegated leaf flakes. (The multicolor leafing left us saying brava!)

There’s more than one way to spin the decorative-nail look. Pair nails with a bright color palette and bold, unfussy prints—and stuffiness doesn’t even come into play. Board and chair: faux nailhead trim, sold by the roll.

Pop some popcorn, press “play” and snuggle up in your DIY’d felt blanket. We made ours by stitching 3” x 3” felt squares to 9 ½” x 9 ½” felt squares and then stitching the larger squares together. Then we backed it with fabric. It’s so cozy that we won’t blame you if you’re snoozing before the credits finish rolling.

An asking-for-art hallway is perfect for displaying a trio of vintage-style embroidered pieces. We started by transferring a pattern onto a plain pillowcase. Then we satin stitched a fresh-from-the-flower-garden design. Once finished, we added batting and a back and then secured it to a glass-less frame.

Chevron felt met rustic branches and jute—and fell in love! First, coat sheets of felt with découpage medium. When the felt is dry, cut out your shapes. Then just forage for branches in the backyard (or our Floral Dept.), and hot glue the arrow shapes to the ends. Finish off by tying the arrows to a length of jute.

But before you jump in, here are a few need-to-know basics: 1) Start by applying leaf adhesive, and let it dry until it’s slightly tacky. 2) Apply leaf using a paintbrush, and brush away excess. 3) Finish with a sealer to maintain good condition.

With the block printing technique, personalizing pillows—and anything else—is simple! 1) Position a mat under your pillow cover for best results. 2) Mark 2 inches from each side vertically. 3) From that first point, mark 2 more vertical lines according to the aztec medium block. 4) Mark horizontal lines according to each block's width. 5) Print pieces according to the design.
