Elizabeth Taylor photographed by Firooz Zahedi, 1976. Clearly one of the most beautiful women ever photographed.

18/145 lbs/ size 10/ 5 feet.   In 1994 I was born. In 1998 I lost someone important to me who I believe is now my guardian angel. In 2001 my parents split and my mother remarried. In 2007 I began cutting. In 2009 I was bullied. In 2010 I fell in love. In 2011 I suffered my first heart break. In 2012 I stopped cutting, I realized who I was, I loved again, I was accepted to college, I graduated high school, I gained confidence, I wore my first bikini.

Harriet Anderson, 74. Competed in Ironman World 18 times. In 2009, got clipped from behind on her bike, fell and broke her clavicle. She taped her arm to her waist, walked the marathon portion and still finished in time. It doesn't get any more badass than that.

My name is Sara, I am an eighteen years old Iraqi-Belgian girl who is doing Feminist Studies in uni. I wasn’t ALWAYS happy and comfortable about my body, my new year’s resolution this year was different from the other ones, instead of wanting to lose weight, I wanted to love, accept and feel comfortable with my body, and it’s the first time that I feel like I actually accomplished a new year’s resolution.I learned if I accepted my body then everyone’s opinion will not matter.

"Our culture is fearful of ageing," said (Caryn) Franklin, "and especially ageing women. I say, 'Stop apologising for getting older. Embrace it.' I want young women to see that beauty ages beautifully and there is no need to feel that getting older is something that has to be medicated, managed with surgery or be obsessed about."

So it’s weird and dark and awkward, but I love this picture anyway!  My five-year-old daughter took it, and she hasn’t quite mastered the art of not putting her finger over the shutter, lol.  But she’s quite taken with my new forearm crutches, and so am I!  Plus, awesome new dress is awesome, imo.  I can no longer wear the big layered flowing skirts I prefer (too easy to catch a cane/crutch in them, and they get in the way in my wheelchair), so I’m trying some new styles.

A lot of times I equate the struggle for body acceptance as simply an issue about fat, then I am reminded that body acceptance (appreciation, beauty, sexy) is so much more than that

This beautiful model, a burn survivor, did this photo shoot to, in her own words, "prove that scars do not change a person, they make that person who they become." What a gorgeous woman. BREATHLESS and indeed still BEAUTIFUL <3

“My boyfriend prefers me curvier, when I eat and am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I’m happy. Happier than I’ve ever been,” The Lady Gaga Body Revolution campaign is without doubt one the most significant body image breakthroughs in recent times. Her status and celebrity stature have helped raise important issues and, with a little luck, could affect a change in the way young women see their bodies. We salute you!

Loving my body is the first step to recovering from this eating disorder. Posting this photo was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done.

Another celebrity fighting the backlash to PROVE that women are meant to wear curves, and look all the better for it. Hopefully this’ll signify a cultural shift in the mainstream where we all learn to celebrate the essence of our natural forms, eventually

Curvy is the new black.
