I love the color of light just before sunset when everything glows in warmth. Artists refer to this as the Golden Hour....though in my experience it's more like the Golden 10 Minutes! I will often stop and do a quick study when the light is just right...trying for that immediacy of the moment and applying the oil paint in a thicker manner. This little painting is the perfect size for a small wall in your home and a great way to start your collection! Sunsets at Swami's are so awesome! the natural composition of the cliffs and palm trees along with the glorious southern California sunsets make it a perfect spot for painters. I'm blessed to call Encinitas "home"....and I look forward to many more of these beautiful endings of the day! This 22" x 31" original oil is of the staircase leading down to the beach at Swami's. This painting is from memories that I have of many hikes along the trails at Torrey Pines and of the amazing California sunsets.
