Metal tree-branch railings - stair case
I am having a staircase in my dream house & I am a little unsure at this point how it will look. I originally had it all planned but it would appear with the design challenges of a sloping block & the fact we have a budget the stairs have had to change. At this point in time I have no idea how my staircase will look or even if we enter from the family room or the entry. So I have been stalking staircases online so I have plenty of ideas when I have some insight into that part of the project. traditional staircase design by Chicago general contractor Stone breaker Builders & Remodelers I love white painted stairs & the extra storage is a fantastic idea contemporary family room design by Toronto interior designer Jennifer Brouwer I'm thinking of a white painted staircase & a carpet, perhaps sisal, stair runner... traditional staircase designI just love dark timber floors with a traditional white painted stair rail Image via Decor Pad This staircase is definitely the WOW factor of this home... Image via Decor Pad A very creative & unique touch, a hand rail fashioned to look like a tree branch Image via White Cat Vintage I just love the white on white, its so restful & clean image via The Five Year Project This is a fabulous design for the family home, not to mention the striped stair runner. source unknown Total glamour source unknown This actually came from an add for smart technology in the home but I just thought it was a beautiful stair case. source unknown Everything about this stair case & entry is Divine, EXCEPT, the kid on the scooter....Take that thing OUTSIDE!!!! Source unknownI love the storage & mirrors, they bring a little extra glamour to an already beautiful space. I look at an image like this & dream of painted white floors Image via Sarah Richardson Design I have to admit Sarah Richardson is definitely one of my favourite designers, everything she presents oozes class. She mixes pattern & texture & colour with such ease, I wish she was an Aussie. I would invite her round for coffee, for sure!!! Don't you just love a beautiful stair case, do you have stairs at your house! CHEERS Trish xxx

After countless hours spent ooo-ing and ahh-ing over gorgeous interiors for years and years, this dreamy lake house by designer Paige Sumblin Schnell has officially taken 1st place in my personal ‘Most Gorgeous Interior’ contest. Located on Lake Martin in Alabama, this home is designed to highlight the focal point of the property, the view, by directing the focus of each room towards the lake. The design of this lake house is a brilliant combination of high ceilings, reclaimed wood beams and floors, natural stone, grand fireplace, contemporary accent pieces, rustic elements, and white color palette. What I would give to live here…! Lake House dining space. I FINALLY HAVE MY OLD DOOR FINISHED. I LOVE OLD DOORS AND HERE ARE A COUPLE THAT INSPIRED ME~ I LOVE THE COLORS IN THESE DOORS. THIS IS WHAT I STARTED WITH I WANTED MY DOOR TO SERVE MORE AS A PIECE OF ART AS I THOUGHT IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL I DID ATTACH A BASKET WHICH YOU WILL SEE I PAINTED IT TO GO WITH THE DOOR. I THINK THIS IS ACTUALLY A FLOWER BASKET. I ALSO DECORATED MY DOOR WITH A KNOCKER, AN ANTIQUE DOOR KNOB AND A DOOR KNOB PLATE. THE DOOR RESIDES IN MY BEDROOM BESIDE MY NIGHT STAND. I DECIDED I WOULD USE IT TO HOLD BOOKS! HERE IS MY BEAUTIFUL DOOR AFTER... VERY HARD TO GET A PICTURE INDOORS AND OF A DOOR THAT REACHES YOUR CEILING! NOW I WANTED IT TO HOLD BOOKS AND JUST BE BEAUTIFUL! BUT IT COULD HOLD JUST ABOUT ANYTHING. MAYBE EVEN A STARFISH COLLECTION I HOPE YOU LIKE WHAT I DID WITH MY DOOR.. I LOVE MAKING ART OUT OF THINGS THAT YOU MIGHT NOT EVEN THINK OF IN THAT WAY.

Nifty Niches Squeeze out valuable storage without the cost of a major remodel by turning wasted space between wall studs into handy shelving units. The unused area above this tub is fitted with simple glass shelves, providing ample room for towels and accessories. Near the sink, a similar space houses small items such as lotions.

*DUBLIN - Trinity College Library - Ranked the most beautiful library in the world!! Welcome to the Old Library and the Book of Kells Exhibition - a “must see” on the itinerary of all visitors to Dublin. Located in the heart of Dublin City, a walk through the cobbled stones of Trinity College Dublin will bring visitors back to the 18th century, when the magnificent Old Library building was constructed. Inside is housed the Book of Kells - a 9th-century gospel manuscript famous throughout the world. Visitors are welcomed by our friendly staff seven days a week. Please click on Opening Hours and Plan Your Visit for more information. Visitors enter through the Library Shop and proceed to the Book of Kells "Turning Darkness into Light" exhibition; then to the Treasury where the Book of Kells and other related manuscripts are on view; then proceed upstairs to the magnificent Long Room which houses 200,000 of the Library’s oldest books in its oak bookcases. Exhibitions are held in the Long Room to display the rich holdings of the Library and encourage further research. Click on Exhibitions and Events for information on the current exhibition.
“Libraries gave us power,” said the Manics. That’s how I felt when I first discovered the local library as a youngster, but having checked out many of the country’s library’s in recent years I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t now. It’s not power they give you now, but indigestion. Every council in the country seems to have the idea that bigger is better – bigger, that is, when it comes to blowing the budget on the building instead of the books. Libraries aren’t about books now, they’re about “communities.” They’re about looking good. But they’re rarely, if at all, about books. Every library I’ve visited in recent months is “new and improved” -- which seems to mean that its book stacks are now anaemic, an dhidden “down the far end,” while the building designed to house them suffers from grandomania. Acres of space is given over to entrances and meeting areas and spaces for “culturally appropriate” community activities, but the space given over to actual books in these places is decidedly the poorer cousin. If knowledge is power, then the country’s libraries have given up the struggle. Grandomania has beaten purpose. Not so however with the wonderful libraries pictured here, taken from the hundreds collected at Librophiliac: a Compendium of Beautiful Libraries. My thanks to Danyl for sending me there (and giving me the title for this post). These are my idea of what real libraries looks like. The three beauties pictured here are (from top to bottom) the Real Gabinete Portugues De Leitura Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; the Rijkmuseum Library, Amsterdam; and the Trinity College Library, AKA, The Long Room, Dublin, Ireland.
