~~~~Mrs. Farmer's 5th Grade Class: Singapore Math   I have taught this way since I started teaching 6th grade even though it wasn't in our book.  Love it!!  Kids really start to understand the concept vs. just getting the answer.  I've had more than one parent complain that I don't let them use the "shortcut they 'were taught' in 5th grade."

Love this concrete way to teach improper fractions and mixed numbers! This teacher used math manipulative to help the students use prior knowledge of the fraction blocks to help them when solving improper fractions.

WHO KNEW? This is a cool way of showing students how to order fractions. Many students look at fractions and automatically shut down. This takes the fraction aspect out of the problem and gives students whole numbers to work with.
