The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine

Amazon Rating: 3.4/5.0 stars. What's it about? Wren Caswell is average. Ranked in the middle of her class at Sacred Heart, she's not popular, not a social misfit. Wren is the quiet good girl who's always done what she's supposed to—only now, in her junior year, this passive strategy is backfiring. She wants to change but doesn't know how. Grayson Barrett was the king of St. Gabe's: star of the lacrosse team, at the top of his class, and on the fast track to a brilliant future—until he was…

#authorlifemonth Day 12: Killed Darlings BONUS The above is a description of Luke Dobson, the main antagonist in The Promise of Amazing. His original name was Hayes and was only changed in one of my last revisions with my editor because we agreed that Hayes sounded too similar to Grayson. (How had I not seen that before?) I had a list of alternate names and ended up picking Luke. He will always be Hayes to me though. As awful as he is in the book – he’s one of my favorite characters.

#authorlifemonth Day 14: Favorite cover Maybe because it was my first, but I love the cover of TPofA because it really captures the relationship between Wren and Grayson so perfectly. #coverlove #yalit #bookstagram

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

It’s fall, and I suppose about time for a new blog post, lest you think I’ve been stuck in post-revision la-la land for months. I haven’t. Shortly after my last post, another round of revisions landed in my inbox. This was a tough batch (I had to completely rethink a part of the story) but revision has become my favorite part of the writing process because I get to play. I’m so happy with it! And now I can share the title of book two with you: The Secrets of Attraction Add it on Goodreads…

The Promise of Amazing inspired holiday playlist!

A Holiday Mix

The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas have always held a special place in my heart. I’m not really sure why – it’s certainly stressful, with end of semester tests, holiday shopping, overindulging and family obligations. I’ve always tried to look at the brighter side of things, and while the stressors I mentioned get to me too, I remember to pause a moment and really experience all of the things I love. The smell of a wood fire, the glow of Christmas lights, chocolate chip cookies…
