The Help - My favorite book- I read it a couple years ago before the movie... movie's good too, but the book is better!
I can't say enough about "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett! It's such an entertaining read! Read the book before you see the movie.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Even if you've seen the movie... read the book. It is wonderful and more alive than watching real people play it out on the screen.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett - Loved it! Book was fab....and I must say the movie was very well done!

If you're a die-hard fan of the movie — and love a little romance — your beach vacation is the perfect time to read The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks.
Nicholas Sparks: Great author, favorite book is (of course) "The Notebook" Incidentally also (unusually) a superb movie! If you want a love story...this is your book.

Worth Reading, Margaret Mitchell, Wind, Margaretmitchell, Books Worth, Civil War, Movie, Favorite Books, Time Favorite
My all time favorite book and movie. In 1936 Margaret Mitchell publishes Gone with the Wind. Three years later it hits the silver screen, starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh.
Books, Gone With the Wind. If you're from the south, this is a must read. My favorite book and movie of all time!!
Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell So much better than the movie, although they couldn't have casted it any better.
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell ~ Until recently, this was my all-time favorite book, but is now a close second. Not much can compare to the story of Scarlett and her life journey through the Civil War and Reconstruction. The characters, places, and times just come alive as you read!
Gone With the Wind (1936) by Margaret Mitchell - a best-selling novel and a Pulitzer winner about the Civil War that inspired a movie that inspired epic studio production
-Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I'm going to be honest this is far from my favorite book. It's ridiculously long and Scarlett O'Hara is such an annoying character that you really love to hate, while simultaneously hoping that she comes to her freaking senses and realizes she loves Rhett. It's painful. But it is a classic that I think if you can handle it, go for it.
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell #MargaretMitchell
Gone with the Wind is a novel written by Margaret Mitchell, first published in 1936. The story is set in Clayton County, Georgia, and Atlanta during the American Civil War and Reconstruction era. It depicts the experiences of Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, who must use every means at her disposal to come out of the poverty she finds herself in after Sherman's March to the Sea. A historical novel, the story is a Bildungsroman or coming-of-age story, with the title taken from a poem written by Ernest Dowson. Gone with the Wind was popular with American readers from the onset and was the top American fiction bestseller in the year it was published and in 1937. As of 2014, a Harris poll found it to be the second favorite book of American readers, just behind the Bible. More than 30 million copies have been printed worldwide. Written from the perspective of the slaveholder, Gone with the Wind is Southern plantation fiction. Its portrayal of slavery and African Americans is controversial, as well as its use of a racial epithet and ethnic slurs. However, the novel has become a reference point for subsequent writers about the South, both black and white. Scholars at American universities refer to it in their writings, interpret and study it. The novel has been absorbed into American popular culture. Margaret Mitchell was imaginative in the use of color symbolism, especially the colors red and green, which surround Scarlett O'Hara. Mitchell identified the primary theme as survival. She left the ending speculative for the reader, however. She was often asked what became of her lovers, Rhett and Scarlett. She did not know, and said, "For all I know, Rhett may have found someone else who was less difficult." Two sequels authorized by Mitchell's estate were published more than a half century later. A parody was also produced. Mitchell received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for the book in 1937. It was adapted into a 1939 American film. The book is often read or misread through the film. Gone with the Wind is the only novel by Mitchell published during her lifetime

Flowers in the Attic... I read this when I was in High School and V.C. Andrews became my all-time favorite author. Since then, I started collecting her novels. Now, I already have over 50 hard copies of her Masterpieces.
Before there was Twilight and Stephanie Meyer..we had VC Andrews. I read all of these books growing up.
These books were so creepy.............Read them in high school and again as an adult years later. They gave me nightmares as an adult!
I want to write a screenplay for movie version of my favorite book of all time. trust me...it will be MUCH better than the 1987 film!
V.C. Andrews. Couldn't get enough of her books! My mom had no clue, no 12 year old should have read these books!
Didn't we all read V.C. Andrews at some point growing up? It was the "Twilight" series of our time!!!
I remember trying to persuade my English teacher that this was a good book, we'd all brought it in as 'our favourite book to read' and she was dissapointed.
I read this whole series years ago, pretty much everything she has written. She had a twisted mind. She died awhile ago and someone else wrote a whole bunch of other crappy books under her name. The early stuff by her is the best.

The Boxcar Children Bookshelf (The Boxcar Children Mysteries, Books 1-12) - My mom used to read this to me & siblings when I was younger! It is fantastic!
The Boxcar Children - There are about 130 Boxcar Children Mysteries, but only the first 19 are written by the original author, Gertrude Warner.
My favorite book as a child after my 1st grade teacher read it to the class. I am now reading it to my daughter and she is enjoying it as much as I did
The Boxcar Children Bookshelf (The Boxcar Children Mysteries, Books 1-12) I read these to my class and they always loved them.
The Boxcar Children - There are about 130 Boxcar Children Mysteries, but only the first 19 are written by the original author, Gertrude Warner. In my opinion, the originals are the best.
Boxcar Children Mysteries. This series follows the exciting adventures of four orphaned children. Orphaned and alone, they find an old boxcar to live in. They are resourceful and hardworking as they try to survive on their own. Engaging story, daring adventures, enough excitement to satisfy any child's imagination. Keep in mind book 1 sets up the storyline and establishes the characters, the ones that follow are focused more on the mysteries. Good for children 7-12.
The Boxcar Children Bookshelf (The Boxcar Children Mysteries, Books 1-12)

Love John Irving books, especially this one, even though they'll make you cry.
David Champlin is a black man born into poverty in New Orleans who makes his way up the ladder of success, only to sacrifice everything to lead his people in the civil rights movement. Sara Kent is the white girl who loves David from the moment she first sees him, and who struggles against his belief that a marriage for them would be wrong in the violent world he has to confront. And the “five smooth stones” are those the biblical David carried against Goliath...
