The Wawona Covered Bridge spans the South Fork of the Merced River at the Pioneer Yosemite History Center in Wawona, Yosemite National Park. It was constructed by Galen Clark, original guardian of the Yosemite Grant, in 1868 to service local horse, stock and pedestrian traffic, as well as the trail to Yosemite Valley.

Bob White Bridge ~ Virginias Covered Bridges - also known as kissing bridges - numbered more than 100 back in the early 1900s, dwindling down to about 50 in the mid-1930s. Today, only eight authentic timber-covered bridges survive. You can visit five of them, all of which have been preserved as landmarks.
