This artist's concept shows a brown dwarf surrounded by a swirling disk of planet-building dust. NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope spotted such a disk around a surprisingly low-mass brown dwarf, or "failed star.
Atmosphere of the Moon - This picture was taken with the Clementine spacecraft, when the sun was behind the moon. The white area on the edge of the moon is the Lunar Horizon Glow, and the bright dot at the top is the planet Venus.
THE VEIL NEBULA - The Veil Nebula is a cloud of heated and ionized gas and dust in the constellation Cygnus. It constitutes the visible portions of the Cygnus Loop, a large but relatively faint supernova remnant.
