Castleboro House was originally built in 1770 by the Carew family in Enniscorthy,Co Wexford, Ireland. An accidental fire in 1840 destroyed most of it and then it was rebuilt to incorporate the surviving west wing but another fire started by local IRA sympathizers in 1923 destroyed the house completely. It now lies as one of the finest ruins in Ireland.

Imagine this one . . .Wyndcliffe is an abandoned mansion in the town of Rhinebeck, New York. The scale of this place is absolutely enormous, and its style seems different from any of the other Hudson River estates. It inspired the phrase "keeping up with the Joneses" and is featured on the cover of a book on American ruins.

Pinner wrote..... An awesome sight for old and abandoned places in North Carolina! Found this beautiful home in Glen Alpine, NC yesterday. After a little research, I found it was built in 1905 by a Dr. Hennessee who also used it as his office.
